This was my home from birth. If the weather was at all decent, you would find me in the garden with my siblings. Our garden was very unusual. A small patio near the house then a set of steep steps between a large rockery. The large lawn at the bottom of the steps was surrounded by flower beds raised up on rock walls. At the rear of the garden was a park and a stream. So you could plant anything you liked, it would grow well in the alluvial soil.

Our home when we were first married.

It didn’t take me long to set to work, build a patio and plant up some flower beds. This young man was once me!

Winter or summer made no difference to me, only in the clothing I had to wear.

Our next home, with much to do.

Trees to fell, beds to make. Even in the winter! The bunny was not ours. You can see a seat that I made at the back of the garden in the drawing – a sunny spot.

I didn't find much when we first moved in. Use the slider above to see what came next.

So far, I have planted 13 trees, including Walnut, Victoria plum, Cherry, Peach, Apple and Pear.

I had to move the shed, as it was in the wrong place. So, I made a raised gravel bed and planted Heuchera.
