WHAT DID THE CLIENT WANT?
1. To clear the rockery of weeds, replant with alpines and cover the earth with gravel.
2. To remove Bergenia from apple border and design and replant with herbaceous plants that grow in dry shady conditions.
3. To clear a mound of soil and rubbish at the rear right-hand side of the garden and redesign and replant the rectangle of paths in the rear half of the garden.
WHAT WERE THE PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES THAT I FACED
1. The rockery was difficult to access as it was around a pond.
2. The weeds in the rockery were hard to remove as they were rooted under the rockery stones.
3. The mass of Bergenia in the apple border needed to be stored away from the areas to be replanted.
4. The logs from the rear border needed to be stored away from the rectangle area.
5. A large amount of gravel was required to fill the rectangular paving at the rear, as the client did not want this area to be covered in Strulch as was originally planned.
WHAT DID I DO
1. Extra labour was recruited to clear the rockery, move the Bergenia and assist in making the rectangular paving area.
2. The logs from the rear were laid out as a border around the rectangular paving and the soil mound was dug up and moved to this area.

Review
"We contacted Andy to enquire whether he could improve the look of our garden as it was somewhat "dishevelled".
He came along and we had a long discussion about possibilities. Andy then spent quite some time listening to what we might consider and returned with a few ideas for us. He created a design which benefits from his imagination and used materials that were existing (tree remains used as borders), avoiding the need to incur additional costs. He has a professional approach and not only presented design suggestions but also images in colour, of what the final design might look like. He is always punctual and courteous, and we have been very happy with both the planning and the work itself.”
